The editor should critically question the supposed truths that his interlocutors tell him. Mayors, politicians, county councils, administrations, authorities, business and trade union representatives always have an interest in spreading their respective messages. Precisely this must always be checked and classified.

 

In other words: The editor must never mutate into the proclamation organ of his interlocutors. At the same time he must have the courage to expose grievances even against resistance. The editor must not be intimidated - he must research independently of the supposedly great and powerful. All this requires courage, tenacity, assertiveness, self-confidence and good journalistic skills. Furthermore: The editor must be able to work under extreme time pressure - at times when the majority of citizens are already at home from work.
